Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability

Safety, health and environment at the workplace is not only about eliminating the incidence of work-related injuries, diseases, fatalities, disaster, and loss of national assets. It is also about achieving a high level of occupational safety, health, and environment performance through proactive approaches — to enhance the well-being of employees and society, at large.

Syngene’s approach to environment health safety and sustainability (EHSS)

Syngene being a responsible corporate citizen, is committed to protecting people and environment, and preventing losses resulting from incidents/accidents. In this direction, Syngene’s management has adopted a goal-zero strategy for environment health safety and sustainability (EHSS). This is to ensure zero harm to people, protect environment, prevent environment pollution, comply with EHSS statutory requirement and more.

Syngene’s EHSS department helps the company conduct operations in line with Syngene’s values and beliefs on all these fronts. It drives sustainability through operations that minimize the impact on climate, waste and water. The EHSS function also looks into enterprise risk management encompassing operational, strategic and emerging risks. Subject matter experts, who are members of the EHSS function, advise Syngene on the adoption of industry best practices, to ensure Syngene
is positioned as a company that is committed to environment, safety, health and sustainability.

The EHSS team advises Syngene on adoption of best practices in water conservation, waste water treatment, energy saving and creating a safe workplace. It looks into measures to mitigate/avoid safety incidents and occupational hazards, keeping operational risks as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) as well as ensuring distribution safety of all products reaching its customers.

Our management system approach, consisting of gap analysis, planning, review and implementation has percolated to all business plans through ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001: 2018 standards at all levels. Our EHSS systems and processes have been audited and duly certified by M/S TUV Nord.
